This is species of pipefish is widespread throughout the Indo-Pacific Region. They tend to swim out in the open in an aquarium. Their red and white band markings and coloring are striking. These are a hardy pipefish species and can be kept with our captive bred seahorses. They are generally peaceful with each other and can be kept singly, two or in a group together. They are an active pipefish species. This is one of our most popular pipefish tank mates.
We are feeding them frozen Hikari BioPure and PE Mysis shrimp at our farm and they are readily eating it.
Our Aquarium Conditioned fish are quarantined and observed at our aquaculture facility before offered for sale. We prophylactically deworm all our fish as well as run an anti-parasitic treatment on all of our fish.
We keep them at the same temperature and water parameters as our H. erectus seahorses. We recommend 70-74 F if kept with our captive bred seahorses but they can be kept up to 78-80 F in an aquarium. We recommend a 25 gallon minimum aquarium size for up to 2 individuals.
