We are excited to offer captive bred Yellow tangs. This is a somewhat peaceful tang species and also a great algae grazer to help keep nuisance algae in check in the aquarium. The Yellow Tang is one of the most iconic marine fish orignating from Hawaii. These specimens are captive bred. Being captive bred and younger their bright yellow color they are known for is still a bit muted and not bright yellow as seen in mature adults. These color up with maturity in the aquarium and proper diet.
We are feeding them a variety of prepared foods including frozen Mysis shrimp, Nori, frozen Calanus, LRS frozen nano blend, and a variety of other foods at our farm. It is important to make sure these herbivors get plenty of seaweed and algae in their regular diet. Our fish are feed at least 2-3 times daily at our facility and we recommend the same for their care.
Our captive bred fish are quarantined and observed at our aquaculture facility before offered for sale and are housed only with other captive bred fish. We do not house our captive bred fish with wild fish while they are held at our facility.
This is a great species for our customers not keeping seahorses. Of course, keep an eye on them for signs of aggression with other tank mates. We recommend a large aquarium for them such as a 75 gallon or larger. This species does best with a lot of swimming room.
