Species: Hippocampus barbouri

Size and Color: ~2.5-3 inches when we ship them out. This species reach 4-6 inches with maturity. This is a slower growing species.

Patterns and colors vary. Color is not fixed with seahorses and changes with mood, lighting and other factors. Colors typically displayed include yellow, golden, biege, light and other colors. This species often has saddling and other markings throughout the body.

This species is known for their beautiful Zebra stripe snout. H. Barbouri have pronounced spines making them have a prickly appearance. The Zebra Snout Seahorse has some of the most intricate markings of the seahorse species. This is a very unique species and smaller seahorse vareity.

This genetic line of seahorse originates from Australia. In the wild they are actually found on the great barrier reef often amongst corals. These are very exotic seahorses!

The Barbouri seahorse should be kept in its own aquarium. It should not be mixed with other seahorse species. Barbouri seahorses are a delicate variety of seahorse and more passive eaters.
