The Arrow Crab is a Caribbean crab species known for its spider-like legs and for feeding on worms, detritus and algae in the aquarium. These crabs are popular for helping reduce nuisance and over populated bristleworms in aquariums. Like many aquarium invertebrates, arrow crabs are considered nocturnal and feed mostly a night.
They are generally considered reef-safe and beneficial in a reef aquarium for eating leftover food and waste. This crab species can be semi-aggressive towards small fish and invertebrates in the aquarium and territorial towards its own species so there is some aggression risks with having more then one in an aquarium, especially smaller tanks. Since Arrow crabs are known for eating worms in the aquairum they may also go after decorative worms including Feather Dusters, Coco worms, ect. Arrow crabs are a beneficial species, especially if you are trying to control bristleworms but be mindful of the size of your other tank mates you plan to house with it.
A 30 gallon aquarium or larger is recommended for this invertebrate species with plenty of hiding places.
