This is for a male and female pair of Pot-bellied Seahorses, Hippocampus abdominalis. Two seahorses. These are being offered WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) meaning you will receive the exact seahorses in the photo.
***This species is a coldwater species and needs to be kept at 60-68 F***
Species: Hippocampus abdominalis.
Size and Color: ~4-4.5+ inches when we ship them out. This species reaches 5-8+ inches with maturity. Large species.
Patterns and colors vary. Color is not fixed with seahorses and changes with mood, lighting and other factors. Colors typically displayed include biege with gray markings.
These captive bred Pot-bellied seahorses are very unique and a fun species to keep. These larger seahorses can reach 5-8+ inches in length! Markings vary and can consist of spots, often gray saddling markings, and sometimes tail-bands.
We generally do not recommmend mixing seahorse species in the same aquarium. We recommend keeping them in a species only aquarium and not mixing them with other seahorse species.
Breeding: Pot-bellied seahorses are among the easier to raise of the seahorse species. Fry are large and will take live baby brine shrimp as their first food.
Feeding and Stocking: We recommend feeding these seahorses Hikari BioPure Mysis shrimp and PE Mysis shrimp twice daily. Seahorses are very socials animals. They do best when kept paired or in a group. We recommend a 75 gallon for two Pot-Bellied seahorses and at least an additional 15 gallons for every two more seahorses you wish to keep.
Please see our Seahorse Info page to learn more about the care of our seahorses.
